This month I want to highlight an article, Creating a “path to yes” to spur innovation by Adam Bryant. Adam notes that a prominent natural human tendency is to avoid risk. This leads to behaviors where we reason why we can’t achieve a goal, instead of how we can. Adam notes that changing this mindset is as simple as asking folks to create a “path to yes” when they consider a problem; we are all capable, however we need to fight our own tendencies.
At Amazon we are constantly innovating on behalf of our customers. In any room, it only takes one person to nudge us towards the “path to yes,” which enables us to create innovative solutions that move our businesses forward.

“Although some people thrive in such ambiguity, most people tend to be resistant to change…If you give enough people enough time, they will find reasons why something is a bad idea…the naysayers often think they are adding value by seeing around corners and pointing out risks.”
